Caught, by Harlan Coben

Caught, by Harlan Coben

I finished this book in a freaking hurry, too.  Another great Harlan Coben book with an ending I definitely didn’t see coming.

The book starts with Dan Mercer, a social worker who loves helping kids, is busted in a sting set up by a local show called Caught in the Act for soliciting sex from a 13 year old girl.  But is that really what was going on?

Three months earlier, 17 year old Haley McWald mysteriously disappears and has left absolutely no clues as to what may have happened to her.

Reporter Wendy Tynes soon realizes that Dan  may be innocent as evidence found later links the two cases.  In the midst of her investigation, she loses her job, gets it back, and then becomes the target of the perpetrator for getting too close to the situation.

Caught is a wonderfully crafted suspense novel.  Obviously, since I  read the book in two days, I couldn’t put the book down.  Cameo appearances are made by Coben favorites Win Lockwood, Hester Crimstein, and Big Cyndi.  Coben’s writing is (as usual) witty and gripping.

I once again recommend a Coben book to anyone who likes to read.  If Coben has a weak book in his arsenal, it hasn’t been published.
