So, new blog series: Hero of the Moment. I wanted to do Hero of the Day, but I didn’t want Metallica to sue me…
The other day my new heroes were the group of four spectators who egged Lady Gaga. Today, my new hero is Chris Kluwe.
This news is a day late, but there was word yesterday that four of the plaintiffs in the anti-trust suit against the NFL – Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Vincent Jackson, and Logan Mankins – were trying to get special privileges worked into the new CBA for themselves. Brees and Manning were trying to get a clause that would prevent the franchise tag from ever being used on them. Jackson was trying to either prevent the franchise tag from being used on him, or a guarantee of $10 million for this year if he was tagged. Nobody was sure what Mankins wanted.
When this news went public, so did Vikings punter Chris Kluwe. Kluwe posted the following tweet in response to the news:
Sigh, and once again greed is the operative byword. Congrats Brees, Manning, Mankins, and Jackson for being ‘that guy’. #douchebags
Finally. An NFL player tells it like it is. You, Chris Kluwe, are my new hero.
