The kids get their “fall break” on Thanksgiving. They get the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off, and don’t have to go back until Monday.
I used a vacation day for that Wednesday so I could spend all five days with them. I was hoping to recreate and get some rest. That didn’t happen.
First thing Wednesday we cleaned up the house for our expected Thanksgiving guests. Later on, when my wife got home from work we prepared all of the casseroles and pies. So no rest there.
I was able to sleep in a bit on Thanksgiving, then we watched the Macy’s Parade (which sucks), watched the Lions get owned, ate Thanksgiving dinner, went to my dad’s house to visit for a bit, came back for my brother and sister-in-law, then went to the stupid Black Friday thing and got a basketball goal for the twins.
Friday was spent doing a little cleaning, then we put up Christmas decorations. Afterward, I gave the twins the basketball goal since their birthday is this weekend. They’ll be with their mom and I wanted them to have some time to play with it before it gets too cold. So I spent (what seemed like) hours putting this thing together, then the twins and I played basketball for a bit. The twins and I then played Madden for a bit, then ate dinner, and went to bed.
I didn’t get to sleep in this morning because my wife had to work, and the little man decided he wanted to get up early today. After eating breakfast and cleaning just a little, the kids and set up shop in the living room and watched Donald Duck cartoons until “the game” came on. My dad, brothers, and nephew all came over to watch Michigan get its first win against Ohio State since 2003. Then we played some more basketball. Now, my wife is hanging out with her best friend and the twins have a friend over. Baby C is passed out, still in his Wolverine jersey.
I’m worn out. I felt like blogging as I had some things I wanted to rant about, but I’m freakin’ tired. I think I’ll just play KOTOR2 until my wife gets home…
I feel exhausted for you! Hang in there – the time when your children are young goes by so quickly, so it does get easier. Hope you get some rest and recharge your batteries!
I wouldn’t miss it for the world….but I’m still drained….
Yeah, the parade sucked hard. I got a blog coming about it soon.
My wife likes the parade, so I didn’t have much say in the matter. I don’t like parades either. Kinda pointless, if you ask me.
