This should probably be a tough decision, but it’s really not. I love writing my blog and if I had to choose, this is what I would pick. I, for some reason, developed this weird creative outlet in the last couple of years and if I didn’t have a place to let it all out I might go insane. Well, even more insane than I already am. I love putting my stuph out there and seeing the feedback I get and the responses it evokes. I love the interaction I have with the people who read my writing and, as stupid as it sounds, I like seeing the “likes” pile up. If and when they actually pile up.
So if it came down to it, I would miss all of the really great blogs I follow, but there are other things to read. Books, newspapers, comics, etc. But I would really miss my blogs.
Hmmm…..short post today. I’ll have to come up with something later. If I have time.

Oh, you’re too kind! I was just wondering how you get your related articles to show up as thumbnails instead of links. I really want to do that, and have only seen it on one other blog. I asked the author to help me and he never replied. I don’t know if it has to do with my chosen theme, or if I’m missing a setting somewhere. That’s all.

I use the Zemanta add-in for my browser. You can find it here: http://www.zemanta.com/ and just download the add-in for whatever browser you use.
I have zementa in my dashboard, and that’s how I add related articles. I don’t remember how it got there, or if i downloaded it. Do they have a different version?
Okay, I downloaded it. So, will it now appear in my WP dashboard? I haven’t checked yet.
It should automatically show up on the right side of your page when you create a new post. Have you created a Zemanta account? If not, do so and then you can adjust your settings that way.
okay, I did create an account, and I just did a fake trial post, still showed up as links. I will tinker with the online zemanta settings in my shiny new account. Thanks so much for your help!
I know there’s a setting for the way the links display in there somewhere.

Ok, I found it. Above the articles there’s a check box that says, “With thumbnails.” Just check the box. Hahaha. Easy, right?

Hmmmm….that’s what I’m using. And I just checked Firefox and I have that option there, too.
I’m not finding anything in support or forums either. Grr! Could you email me a screenshot of this option when it’s displayed in your dashboard? Maybe that would help me. Only if you have time. Don’t want to waste your day with this.

Well, there’s the New Post button at the top on the right side of the bar and that gives you a different looking page. I didn’t know if you were using that.
Try going to the Chrome store and seeing if there’s an update for your Zemanta app. Mine didn’t use to do the thumbnails either, until recently, and I think it’s because the app was updated.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the add in. That’s the only other thing I can think of to do.
I got it figured out. I had to disable the Zemanta that you select within your WP dashboard, and use the browser extension instead. Thanks again for all of your help. Woo hoo! You will now see shiny little thumbnails at the bottom of my posts. Now, do I have to go through the extension each time? Or will that menu just be in my dashboard now. Bet you hadn’t planned to baby sit me all day, did you?
Now that you’ve got it set up it you shouldn’t have to go through that any more. Wow! What an ordeal! Glad you got it figured out, though.
It wouldn’t have been an ordeal if I was a little more tech savvy. Or if WP would just update the plug in. No wonder it’s not used by more people.

Nope. That’s not to say I don’t write…just not on the blogsphere.

I was gonna say don’t know until I read the exchange above and it all became clear again. I do enough tech support at work and that isn’t even my job. At home I’m low tech. No PC and no TV. My phone is all I have. My writing stuff is old school pen to paper.
Most importantly, it is fun to.read about others and to comment “you said it best” or whatever. Plus, if bloggers couldn’t read blogs, who the heck would?
