I was afraid today’s prompt would include Valentine’s Day in some way.  I can’t stand this fake holiday.  Let’s celebrate love?  If you aren’t celebrating love every day then you’re failing at life.  But retailers make money on this holiday so I’m afraid it’s not going anywhere.  Oh well…

It’s Valentine’s Day, so write an ode to someone or something you love. Bonus points for poetry!

So I shall bang out an ode to my children because, you know, I love them and stuph.

Hello everyone.  I guess I’m finally coming from behind the curtain and making my first post.  It was inspired by Revisedgewater’s playlist post and a trip to a new grocery store.  It also illustrates why they call me “Sybil” at work.  My coworker says she sees 1,700 personalities in me.  Like the Grimm fairy tales, I look quite unassuming on the outside but still waters run deep.

Revis posted a most excellent playlist of songs last night.  Most are in my collection as well.  Seether, Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed have a continuous spot in the rotation.  In addition, Rise Against holds a prominent place.  Eminem is also tops on the list except when mom is in the car.  I often start my day in the office singing the last song I heard in the car.  Lose it by Eminem often makes an appearance and not just the chorus.

What role does music play in your life?

I think the fairer question, and likely easier answer, is what role doesn’t music play in my life?  As far back as I can remember, music has been a huge part of my being, and a stabilizer in my life.  When I’m sad, I turn to music.  When I’m happy, I turn to music.  When I drive, I must have music.  When I clean, I must have music.  When I work, and my job allows it, I must have music.  Music, music, music.  Are you getting the drift?  I heart music.  With a capital “H”.

Well, it's finally happened. True genius is being recognised and I've been nominated for an Oscar. Not the ones decided by a catacomb staffed with the propped up, dessicated corpses of actors from eighty years ago, but an internet-based award. I think we can all agree that's much more important, although I do feel silly for putting on this frock and writing an acceptance speech.
