Another day, another award post.  Hooray for celebrations!

Today I’m accepting one award for which I was nominated by two people.  That’s right!  Two!  Count ‘em!

Two! That’s two people that have nominated this asshat for an award! Ah ah ah!

This is an extra special award because it’s all about the love.  About our WordPress family.  In all seriousness, I have found a plethora of good friends here on WP and it was the most unexpected gift I could have ever received from blogging.  I was blogging only as a way to release some pent up creativity and what I found was an entire community of kick ass people who genuinely care for one another, who support one another, and are just all-around great people.  I know I’ve become a better person because of this and because of you all, and this award will celebrate those of you who have made a difference to me, both in terms of blogging and as a person.

I’d like to, from the very bottom of my heart (because that is apparently where all the sincerest emotions originate) thank Susan and Steph for nominating me for this award.  It means a lot to me that you think highly enough of me to bestow this award upon me.  I just said “me” way too many times in that last sentence.

As is routine, there are rules with accepting an award, and this award is no different.  The rules are as follows…

Oh, Daily Prompt.  I have missed thee.  I have had so many other things to write that I’ve ignored thee.  Well, that and some of the prompts lately have been  uninspiring.  To me, anyhow.  For shame, DP.  For shame.

Nipple Boo Boo

It’s been 12 days since Baby C’s accident.  Since that time his burns have healed up quite nicely and all he has left are three red marks (two on his chest and one on his arm) from his burns.

So tonight when I was undressing him for his bath he pointed at one of the red marks and said, “Boo boo?”

“Yes, that’s a boo boo,” I concurred (like a doctor).

My New Language

Having a child changes a lot of things. One of them is how you speak. For most people, it lessens the frequency of cussing (it did for me, at least when Baby E is around anyways). It also makes you start talking in a way you can’t control. I don’t know how else to explain it, but for some reason, you MUST talk to your child in that annoying baby talk. You try not to do it, but, no matter what, you always find yourself doing this:

Baby C is a funny little man.  He’s got his daddy’s sense of humor.  He likes to play little games.  To test the limits of his father’s sanity.  Much like his father does to, well, everyone else.

This morning when it was time to go I took the final swig from my morning cup of coffee.  I then rose from my desk chair to take my mug into the kitchen to rinse it out and put it in the sink.  When I came back into the living room he was sitting in the desk chair.  A chair he knows he’s not allowed to sit in because he tries to get into everything on the desk.

That last wedding story reminded me of this one. This one might be one of those “you had to be there” stories, but I don’t care. I’m telling it anyways, cause I think it’s hilarious.
A long time ago, in a state that’s somewhat far away, my family and I were invited to my cousin’s wedding. As we don’t get to see them that often, we decided that this happy occasion was a good reason for visiting. We loaded ourselves in the car and drove up to Detroit to witness the festivities. We arrived the night before the wedding and hung out with some of our aunts/uncles/cousins before we got to see the rest of them the next day.

I promised Twindaddy that I wouldn’t post any stories about him doing embarrassing things. After reading this, you may think I’m breaking that promise, but I have two reasons that I believe I’m not. One, he didn’t do the embarrassing thing, it was done to him. And, two, it happened at my wedding reception, so that gives me permission to use it.

Anybody that knows me knows that I don’t drink. Alcohol does not mix well with my medication. Since this was my wedding, however, I decided to make an exception. Plus, while my medication really didn’t give me any side effects, except to occasionally make me drowsy, I didn’t want to chance it clouding up any part of what is now tied for the best day of my life (the other being the day that Baby E was born).

The Thin Line Between Love and Hate

Surely (yes, I just called you Shirley) everyone has heard the expression “there’s a thin line between love and hate,” right?  I have never understood this expression.  Well, not until recently anyhow.  I mean, love and hate are two opposite extremes, yes?  Love and hate are about as alike as Democrats and Republicans.  Left and right.  Up and down.  Catholic and Muslim.  Black and white.  Cats and dogs.  You get the point, right?  They’re opposites.  Good.  Moving on.
