Good morning, Stuph Maphia™!  You may be wondering why I’m awake so early this Saturday morning.  No?  Oh, well.  It was nice to imagine you cared.  I’m going to tell you anyway.  BABY C WON’T LET ME SLEEP IN!  AUGH!!

Soooo, anyway, I just want to pimp out the social media sites associated with this here weblog, especially since I just added a page to Google+ yesterday.  What?  You’ve never heard of Google+?  That’s okay.  That means that you’re probably not a hipster, and that’s good.

It’s Way Too Fast

I had a doctor appointment today, so I took the day off. I felt like I should post something on my unexpected day off, but nothing was coming to me. I tried to think of a post that wasn’t one of the stories that I’m working on. I got nothing. Then, I felt something on my leg. Looking down, I saw that Baby E was pulling herself up on it. She sees me looking down at her and a huge grin pops onto her face, revealing her first two teeth that have finally poked through. Now I have my post.

Baby E is 10 months old. While she hasn’t had all of her firsts yet, she’s getting close. She hasn’t walked yet, but she can do it when she’s holding onto something, such as furniture and people’s hands. She doesn’t say words yet, but she “talks” quite a bit. She doesn’t read yet, but she certainly likes trying to tear her books apart.

Weigh Your Shirts Carefully

At the bottom of each of my posts is a short list of some of the things that I’ve been called over the years. There are actually a lot more, but for the sake of time and space, I only put four of them down. I guess I don’t have to explain any of them, but I will talk a little bit about the last one: a bad influence.

I’ve been told by a few people that I’ve had some kind of influence on their lives. My wife, for instance, will come home from work and tell me about a smartass or sarcastic comment that she had made that day (which she wouldn’t normally make), and have to explain it off as, “I’ve been around my husband too long.” I tend to find these stories highly amusing because the responses are usually something I would say. She doesn’t consider this to be a “bad” influence, although maybe other people would. Overall, I may not be the best person in the world, but I don’t think I make the people around me worse.

My New Language

Having a child changes a lot of things. One of them is how you speak. For most people, it lessens the frequency of cussing (it did for me, at least when Baby E is around anyways). It also makes you start talking in a way you can’t control. I don’t know how else to explain it, but for some reason, you MUST talk to your child in that annoying baby talk. You try not to do it, but, no matter what, you always find yourself doing this:

A quick disclaimer: I’m not asking this to try and be mean, or make anyone feel bad, or anything, I’m just curious. I just want to know why this happens, and that’s even if anyone knows the answer.

My Weekly Award Show Soundtrack Post Thing

Looking Around For Adolf

That last wedding story reminded me of this one. This one might be one of those “you had to be there” stories, but I don’t care. I’m telling it anyways, cause I think it’s hilarious.
A long time ago, in a state that’s somewhat far away, my family and I were invited to my cousin’s wedding. As we don’t get to see them that often, we decided that this happy occasion was a good reason for visiting. We loaded ourselves in the car and drove up to Detroit to witness the festivities. We arrived the night before the wedding and hung out with some of our aunts/uncles/cousins before we got to see the rest of them the next day.

Wow.  It’s been over 3 months since I’ve done one of these posts.  Unbelievable.  Sorry, Elyse.  I know you like these.  I’ll try to do them more often.

Anyhow, as a refresher, my random thought posts are where I peruse the news and then add my commentary and/or reaction to the articles.  Soooo…here we go!

• Karl Rove has suggested that Stephen Colbert might need anger management after seeing a bit where Colbert stabbed a likeness of Rove (affectionately referred to as “Ham Rove”) repeatedly during an interview.It seems that Rove’s capacity for idiocy escapes him and that most people react to the moronic things he says that way.  Colbert was merely acting out what most Americans would like to do to him.  So, I guess we all need anger management.

My Wedding Reception

I promised Twindaddy that I wouldn’t post any stories about him doing embarrassing things. After reading this, you may think I’m breaking that promise, but I have two reasons that I believe I’m not. One, he didn’t do the embarrassing thing, it was done to him. And, two, it happened at my wedding reception, so that gives me permission to use it.

Anybody that knows me knows that I don’t drink. Alcohol does not mix well with my medication. Since this was my wedding, however, I decided to make an exception. Plus, while my medication really didn’t give me any side effects, except to occasionally make me drowsy, I didn’t want to chance it clouding up any part of what is now tied for the best day of my life (the other being the day that Baby E was born).
