What is Normal?

PicsArt_1357693610761

Normality is subjective.  Almost everybody considers the things they like and do to be normal.  And anyone who likes or does something else is different.  Most of us tolerate these differences with grace and understanding.  Others of us, not so much.  I know that not every person is the same, so the term normal really shouldn’t apply to people.  After all, I’m unique.  Just like everyone else.

How do you manage your online privacy?

stuph-prompt

Wait!  Daily Prompt!  Come back!  I wasn’t neglecting you I just had other things to write!  Geez, you’re a sensitive little topic, aren’t you?  Well, I’ll do this prompt whether or not you’re here with me or not.  So there!

Um, wait.  If DP is gone who’s going to prompt me?  This sucks.  Um….I guess I can prompt myself.  Here goes..

How do you manage your online privacy? Are there certain things you won’t post in certain places? Information you’ll never share online? Or do you assume information about you is accessible anyway?

Goodbye

On the outside
It might just appear
I am happy
Laden with cheer

The reality is
I am imploding
Emotional landslide
Insides eroding

My smile, a façade
Stoic disguise
Your noxious words
Seek my demise

It is imperative
To mask the pain
Can’t let you know
Can’t show the strain

I must stay strong
Solid brick wall
No weakness
Unable to fall

No tears allowed
Men don’t cry
Father said so
He’d never lie

Chin up
Head high
This is
Goodbye

Silent, But Deadly

The guilt was too much to bear.  It was overwhelming, but at the same time I could not bring myself to confess.  Was it the spicy chicken?  Was it the chocolate milk?  I am slightly lactose intolerant.

No matter the reason, it slipped out.  Luckily, it was silent.  I could only pray that it wasn’t deadly.

My worst fears were realized only seconds later when the stench assaulted my nose.  Great.  Why does this always happen in the elevator?

Enough is Enough, Facebook

facebook-147

There has been some unrest in the Facebook kingdom of late, and rightfully so.  It seems that Facebook selectively enforces their hate speech guidelines.  While ads supporting breast cancer are denied because they show a breast, images of a woman with tape over her mouth that say “don’t tap it and wrap it, tape her and rape her” are allowed to stay as they fall under the category of “poor taste” or “crude attempts at humor.”

Stay classy, Facebook (Image via thinkprogress.org)

Over the past week a movement has started to boycott Facebook and/or companies that advertise on Facebook.  People have left Facebook.  Companies have pulled their ads.  Then Facebook responded, albeit noncommittally.

Many of my fellow bloggers are contemplating leaving Facebook and some of them actually did.  I considered it momentarily, but when I realized I’d have no way to keep tabs on the twins’ Facebook activity I decided not to.  Of course, it then occurred to me to deactivate their accounts as well, but I’m not sure they’d understand, though I suppose they need to learn to make a stand at some point.  I’m not sure I’m ready to explain to them what rape is.  I won’t be able to answer the inevitable question of “Why?”.  I have no idea why someone would rape another person and I have even further trouble understanding why someone would find it funny. Vision Boards?

prompts2

This week’s episode of Prompts for the Promptless is about vision boards, which is something that was either created by or made famous by Oprah.  That in and of itself makes me want to hurl, curl up in disgust, and go take a scalding hot shower whilst trying to scrub the nastiness of thoughts of Oprah from my existence.

However, I heart Rawra and would hate for a prompt of hers to go to waste, so therefore I will swallow my pride (or something) and participate in this episode.

Is the Internet Ruining Human Interaction?

facebook-147

Ah, the internet.  It’s everywhere these days.  It’s built-in to our DVD players, our TV’s, our car stereos, our refrigerators, , our video game consoles, our computers (obviously), and our phones. It’s everywhere.  Omnipresent.  Ubiquitous.

In this week’s Mind the Gap challenge we are presented with a thought-provoking conundrum: do smart phones, and by extension, the internet, ruin or strengthen your relationships?

So, anyhow, I feel compelled to do today’s prompt despite your asshole-iness.  That’s a word, right?  Right.  Prompt me!!

When you started your blog, did you set any goals? Have you achieved them? Have they changed at all?

When Blunt Life Coach™ and Twindaddy Collide

Blunt Life Coach

prompts2So.  It’s the premier episode.  Season 2 of Prompts for the Promptless.  Be there or be square, or some other object with angles and stuph™.  Since it’s the season premiere you know we have to bust out the big guns to draw in the viewers, so I’m going to willingly do something I’ve never done before:  collaborate on a blog post with Blunt Life Coach™.

That’s right, Blunt Life Coach™ and Twindaddy (why did I just refer to myself in the third person?) in the same post.  Interacting.  Talking to (yelling at?) each other.  Many of you have been clamoring for some more Blunt Life Coach™ (and even one person has proclaimed her love for him, which is so embarrassing I won’t mention her name…yet).

And now, without further ado (may the ado be with you), here is the episode you’ve all been waiting for. Continue reading
